Extra Life Hero Plays Games to Change Kids’ Health

Receiving surgery at only five weeks old, Mark has no memory of his experience at Valley Children’s Hospital. He is, however, extremely grateful.

In July 1985, Mark was diagnosed with craniosynostosis, a condition in which the skull joins together too early right after birth. As a newborn, he immediately received surgery at Valley Children’s to ensure proper development of his brain.  Had Valley Children’s not caught the problem and completed the surgery, Mark might have experienced more complex issues growing up.

Now, 36 years later, Mark is a proud Extra Life gamer. He has participated in Extra Life’s National Game Day for eight years. During that time, he has raised more than $10,600 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals! His team, Heroes Play Games, a small, but mighty group of streamers, has raised a combined total of more than $25,000!

Mark has a fun approach to raising funds. He has fearlessly tattooed his body six times as fundraising incentives. Through various methods, Mark allows special donors to choose the tattoo. He promotes the special event at work, on social media and directly to family and friends.

For 70 years, Valley Children’s stays true to its mission – to provide high quality, comprehensive healthcare services to children in the Central Valley, regardless of their ability to pay.  Thank you, Mark, for your incredible support! We are glad you are doing well and grateful for all that you do to support the Hospital.
