Get Behind the Half Billion at Costco this Year

Knowing that children’s hospitals are in need, Costco, its members and employees are making a difference by fundraising. They are change makers whose impact to change kids’ health isn’t just about helping those in critical situations it’s also about the research, preventative care, health and safety education and other support services that help build healthier communities today and tomorrow.

During the month of May, you can help us reach the $500 million milestone to change kids’ health! When you shop online or in-warehouse at Costco, make a donation to help kids like Fernando. In 2019, Fernando was diagnosed with pre-B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), a cancer of the white blood cells. “In that moment, I felt my heart break,” recalls Angelica, Fernando’s mother. For three and a half years, Fernando endured regular chemotherapy treatments. Week after week, month after month, it was not easy for young Fernando, but he persevered. Finally, in October 2019, the 8-year-old Fernando got to ring the “No Mo’ Chemo” bell at Valley Children’s. Today, Fernando loves playing and watching sports. He especially loves playing baseball, his favorite sport. “He’s getting better, he’s running, he’s stronger,” says his dad. See Fernando’s picture below.

The Costco fundraising campaign runs through May 31 where funds stay local to directly help kids in our community. Since 1990, Costco employees and members have donated more than 7.5 million dollars for kids treated at Valley Children’s Hospital.

Costco’s societal impact has transformed patents’ and families’ lives. Through donations collected during the annual campaign, hospitals are able to provide treatments and healing that patients desperately need today so that they can fulfil their potential for tomorrow – ultimately having ripple effects that positively impact our communities and our world for years to come.

Thank you for becoming a change maker and donating today to help reach the $500 million milestone. When we change kids’ health, we change the future – for all of us.
